What difference will our new office make?
So we’ve nearly finished moving into our new office and warehouse in Liverpool – just waiting for the builders to finish the kitchen and the last bits of IT equipment to be moved later this week. As I sit at my new desk I’m wondering what difference our new space is going to make to our company over the next few months.
It’s been a big change for us and a considerable expense but when we looked at our business plan we realised that it was a move we needed to make and that it would be an investment in our future growth. A big motivator for the new space was to make the team happier and, to make sure we can maintain and prepare our equipment in a way that keeps up the high standards that we want to provide. Our new location is less than 15 minutes drive from where most of us live and is in easy reach of Liverpool and Manchester which we anticipate will save around 40 man hours each week. It’s definitely nice to have loads of natural daylight in the office, a nice meeting space, and a comfy sofa to relax on when we’ve been working too hard.
We wanted an office that would help us be really creative and have fun so we’ve kept all the paperwork and clutter away and out of sight. Over the next few months we are going to paint a whole wall as a giant whiteboard for brainstorming ideas.
The warehouse doesn’t look or feel like a typical warehouse. It is light, bright and airy with plastered walls and a really clean feel. It doesn’t have a massive metal roller shutter, it has double glass panelled doors. We chose it to be that way deliberately. We aim to maintain our equipment to an even higher standard and even items that look a little scratches would look totally out of place in our new warehouse.
We’re already noticing the difference as we chat through our plans for different projects. There’s an increase in ideas being generated as we are all sat together in the same open plan office.
We’d love you to drop in – just let us know when you’re coming by and we’ll put some coffee on.
